#10 OR We are still chatting.
Sabbatical Company は、杉浦藍、益永梢子、箕輪亜希子、渡辺泰子の4 人により2015 年に結成されたアーティストコレクティブです。それぞれが異なる手法で活動しながら、個人の時間とは異なるスパンを確保し、見過ごされていた好奇心を対話を通して結びつける様々なプロジェクトを行って来ました。
本展タイトルにある「OR」は、『言葉になる手前の時間を共に過ごす』というテーマとともに、Sabbatical Company のひとつの可能性を示すキーワードとして、結成当初から存在してきたものです。2016 年に群馬で開催された展覧会「OR Have a good day.」における「OR」は、同じ場所で過ごすことに対するもう一方の可能性として提示され、「一緒にいられないなら、どうかよい1 日を」という思いが込められていました。その後メンバーのうち3 名が国内外での滞在を経験し、2019 年まで、文字通り離れた場所からの活動が続けられてきました。4 人が久しぶりに距離を近く暮らす今、世界的パンデミック下で多くの人々が実践するのと同様に、Sabbatical Company は改めて、「共に過ごすこと、その距離」について問う日々を過ごしています。結成当時、「10 年たったら自分達の活動を言葉にしよう」と話し合ったことから、来たる2025 年に向けて言葉を探し始めています。そこでのゆらぎや迷いは、再び「OR」というキーワードに回帰しています。本展「OR We are still chatting.」は、ミュージシャン である野内俊裕氏をコラボレーター
として招き、言葉が言葉として名指される手前のやりとりを、 音楽の力を借りて形にします。どう

Sabbatical Company is the art collective formed in 2015 with 4 artists, Ai Sugiura, Shoko Masunaga, Akiko Minowa and Yasuko Watanabe. "OR" in this exhibition title has existed since the first Sabbatical Company was formed to show one of our possibilities. They have been achieving various projects to bond their unnoticed curiosities through our dialogues, acquiring different terms from us each time they work with our different methods. Within the exhibition "OR Have a good day." which took place in Gunma, 2016, "OR" was proposed as another possibility opposite to spending time in the same place, putting our feeling "If we cannot stay together, please have a good day." Since then, three members have experienced residence at domestic places and overseas, and literality continued our activities from distant places until 2019. Now we are living closely after a long separation. However, Sabbatical Company is again questioning "to spend time together and its distance" in the same way that many people practice under this Global pandemic. As we have taken each other "Let's give the word to our activities after ten years" at the start of the group, we are starting to search for our words for the coming 2025. Our sway and perplexity revolve around the keyword "OR" again. This exhibition, "OR We are still chatting." invites the musician Toshihiro Yanai as our collaborator to form our communications with the power of music, which stand before the words are named as the words.
